My Great-Aunt Nicki will be so thoroughly missed. I have so many wonderful memories of her growing up, and I am so glad my family and I had the opportunity to visit her, and Uncle Sam, in Florida so often. She never forgot my birthday, and aways had the kindest words. She was genuine, sweet, smart, and funny. My kids knew all about Aunt Nicki even though my oldest who is now 11, only got to meet her once when he was a toddler. My youngest who is 6 was obsessed with her age and loved telling people about his “Aunt Nicki who is over 100.” I’m so glad she lived such a full life and am so fortunate that I could call her family.

I will miss Nicki more then anyone can imagine. Whenever we spent time together, (and mostly when she and Sam lived in Florida), or speaking on the phone, she always was upbeat and had such a positive attitude about life. Nicki always wanted to know about my family and relatives we had in Boston, Chicago, Indiana or California. She was beautiful inside and out, was always caring and giving, and constantly complimented me for one thing or another. Even though we were "19" years apart, one always felt Nicki was so much younger. I loved her like she was my older sister.

Aunt Nikki had been a constant in my life. She was always so kind and loving. Growing up I remember visits with her and Sam. Happy times together.

A personal story...I remember producing a show about the Hurricane of 1938 for The History Channel. Knowing Nikki grew up in New England I wanted to ask her if she remembered the storm. Of course she remembered and told me about walking with a girlfriend down the street and almost getting hit by a flying billboard. It was quite the story!

One of the benefits of spanning many generations Aunt Nikki also became a part of my two young children's lives. They were always excited when her birthday came around to create a new birthday card for her and talking with her on the phone. She will always be loved an missed.

If you look up the words, beautiful, sweetness and kind, in any dictionary, you will find a picture of my Aunt Nikki. In a family where verbose volatility, was often on display, she was a calming and loving presence.
Having left home at age 17, my memories go back to the early years. There were many changes over the years, but aunt Nikki was a constant in that changing environment. I will always remember her subtle positive influence in my life. I am grateful for the many years she was allotted.
