Barry Neil Rothman's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Barry Neil Rothman
Barry Neil Rothman passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 7th. He was born on December 26, 1957, to Mona and Melvyn Rothman. Raised in Massapequa, NY a true Long Island boy. Barry graduated from Nassau Community College, where he found a lifelong brotherhood in his fraternity Sigma Lambda Phi- bonds that stood the test of time. After college, he moved to Miami, where he met Lori, his “date for life.” Their connection was instant, and it wasn’t long before they were married and embarking on their greatest adventure together. With the births of their children, Elisa and Ian, Barry’s world became even fuller.
They later moved to New York, where Barry built a life centered around family, work, and community. Following in his father’s footsteps, he found his true calling in logistics brokerage, turning a career into a family legacy. More importantly, New York was where he raised his children, always showing up for them in every way possible—whether it was taking on the role of lead umpire for Little League, coaching from the sidelines, or hosting slumber parties filled with laughter for his kids and their friends. He was a hands-on, devoted father who made every moment count.
Barry had a taste for the finer things in life—luxury clothing, cars, great food, vacations, and good company—but he also found joy in the simplest pleasures: a pastrami sandwich and a bowl of matzah ball soup or a five-star meal shared with the people he loved. And no one—absolutely no one—could carve a turkey with such surgical precision or eat a chicken wing or sandwich with a fork and knife quite like Barry.
More than a decade ago, he and Lori moved back to Florida to soak in the sunshine, play water volleyball, and, most importantly, be an integral part of their two grandsons' daily lives. Family was everything to Barry, and he was overjoyed when more recently his son, Ian, added two daughters to complete their family. All four grandchildren were the light of his life. Few people had as much to live for.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Marvin Walker. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lori Rothman; his daughter, Elisa Rothman-Sorrell, her husband Christopher Sorrell, and their two sons, Cash and Mateo; his son, Ian Rothman, his wife Lori, and their daughters, Lily and River. He also leaves behind his brother, Arnold, and his wife, Fern; his sisters, Sheryl Zucarelli, her husband Richard and Shari Cohen; his mother-in-law Dorothy Walker; as well as many cherished, loyal friends, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and two devoted godsons.
Barry passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a world that will never quite be the same without him. He will be forever missed for his dry humor, his endearing smirk, his drive to provide for his family, and his deep, unwavering love for them.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barry’s name can be made to The Four Seasons Delray Pap Corps.
