David A. Rosen's Obituary
David A. Rosen, born Apirl 18, 1926 in Montreal, Canada. Son of Ida and Isidore Rosen; Beloved husband and best friend of Gloria Rosen; Father of Allan and Michael of Vancouver BC; Uncle of many nieces and nephews. MD from McGill University 1949. Graduate training in ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore 1950-1954. Founding chairman of ophthalmology at Queen’s University, Kingston Canada where he was Professor of Ophthalmology 1954-1978. At Queens’s he was a Markle Scholar in Medical Science 1954-1959. First chairman of ophthalmology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY 1978 to 1993. Professor of Ophthalmology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where, upon retirement in 1993 he was named as Emeritus Professor. Survived by sister, Gertie Zlatkin; Predeceased by brother, Harold J. Rosen and sister Rose Adesky.Graveside services will be held on Friday,May 3rd, 2019 at 11:30am at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473.
