Estelle Doris Slutzky's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Estelle Doris Slutzky, who peacefully left this world on August 1, 2026, at the age of 97.
Estelle was born on July 16, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, to Aaron and Anna (Snow) Borg, where she spent her childhood. In 1950, she married her bashert, Jack, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 69 years. Together they raised their three children in Roslyn Heights, Long Island, and shared a lifelong love of travel, exploring destinations around the world.
Following their retirement in 1997, Estelle and Jack relocated to Boynton Beach, Florida, where they embraced an active and fulfilling life in the Lakeridge Falls community and became devoted members of Congregation Kol Ami. In 2015, they moved to Abbey Delray South, where they enjoyed being surrounded by many dear friends from their congregation.
Estelle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered as a caring and compassionate soul whose greatest gift was her ability to connect with people. She had a genuine curiosity about others and made everyone she met feel seen, heard, and valued.
She was known for her warm hospitality, opening her home for countless holidays and family celebrations over the years. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, a flair for acting, and an irrepressible sense of humor and chutzpah, she delighted audiences with songs, stories, and shtick. Estelle was also a gifted early childhood educator who touched many young lives through her patience, warmth, and dedication. Her love of Judaism and lifelong learning remained central throughout her life. She celebrated becoming a Bat Mitzvah in her 60s, led the Yiddish Club in her community, and volunteered as a Hebrew teacher at her Reconstructionist congregation, sharing her knowledge and passion with others.
Above all else, Estelle was a devoted wife and a loving, nurturing mother whose family was the center of her world. Although she could carry on a conversation about almost anything, it always found its way back to the people she loved most.
Estelle is lovingly survived by her children, Judith (Richard) Schiller, Mitchell Slutzky (Alice Phillips), and David (Maria) Slutzky; her six cherished grandchildren, Amy (Scott Thompson, deceased), Samuel (Rebecca Stevens), Zachary (Rachel) Zeno, Samantha (Nicholas) Sabljic, Johannah King-Slutzky, and Mahalah (Ryan) King-Slutzky Crawford; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Theo Schiller, Carly Zeno, and Imrie Crawford.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jacob "Jack" Slutzky; her sister, Marcia (Jack) Melnick; her brother, Daniel (Fran) Borg; and her parents, Aaron and Anna (Snow) Borg.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, Florida, followed by interment at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida.

A Minyan service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Apartment 116.
Thursday, August 6, 2026, Family and friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
