Goldie Chevlin's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Goldie Chevlin
Goldie Chevlin (née Hendler), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida on December 26, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on January 29, 1933 in Freehold, New Jersey, Goldie was the daughter of Sam and Blanche Hendler. The third of four children, she grew up in the Bronx with her oldest brother Joey, her older sister Marilyn and her younger brother Leo of beloved memory. She was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning her degree in Teaching from Hunter College in New York City.
Goldie was an inspirational and kind teacher who deeply impacted her young student’s lives. She took pride in sharing with her own children, the thoughtful gifts, cards and letters written by her student’s parents.
Goldie was deeply proud of being Jewish and passed down this joy and strong sense of identity to her children. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoyed knitting, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
While Goldie spent many years as an elementary school teacher and substitute teacher in the Clarkstown School District, her true life’s work was the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Goldie shared a 65-year marriage with her husband, Richard Chevlin and was the devoted mother of Daniel Chevlin, Robert Chevlin (Ana Puszkin-Chevlin), and Elaine Bauer (Todd Bauer). She was a source of constant love and pride for her five grandchildren: Sandon Chevlin (Allison Beaumont), Heather Chevlin, Sophie Wirthwein (Aaron Wirthwein), Andrew Bauer, and Hannah Bauer and was also the cherished great-grandmother of Lucas Wirthwein.
Her legacy is one of family, laughter, tradition, enduring love, and a gentle spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
