Iris Goldberg's Obituary
Goldberg, Iris Dale, 77 of Palm Beach Florida and originally from Newton, Massachusetts, daughter of Louis and Bertha Rubenstein, passed away quietly and peacefully at home on September 7, 2014.Iris fought a long battle with cancer and other health issues with no complaints and a strong determination to enjoy life.Iris cared about and enjoyed being among people, which brought out her radiant smile and unique talents. Iris lived in Queens, New York after marring Larry and because of her special talent with color and fabric she became the necktie designer and material buyer for Tucker Ties, an activity thoroughly enjoyed by her. She also enjoyed gardening, playing card games, shopping for unusual items wherever she could find them (her “junking” activity), traveling and using her artistic flair to create great paperwork art and other decorative items. When she left New York (after a stop in New Jersey) and moved back to Newton, her interests led her to develop a novelty gift and specialty greeting card business (Safe Cards – a little on the risqué side for those who remember) called Sweet Mix. It was not a money-maker, but gave her a chance to take the ordinary, make it something special and unique, and have great pleasure being an entrepreneur. She was an amazing partner to her lucky husband of nearly 57 years, Larry Goldberg, and a wonderfully supportive mother to her son Stephen Goldberg of Durham, NC. She focused on and excelled at being a wife and mother while she stayed active with other endeavors.Iris also brightened the life of her adored grandson Benjamin Goldberg, daughter-in-law Jocelyn Glazier, brother Jules Rubenstein, sister-in-law Joanne Rubenstein, cousin Alan Zakon, with whom she had a special relationship, and many wonderful family members and close friends. Her spirit will be a bright and inspiring light for all who knew and remember her.Graveside funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 9 at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL. Shiva will following the funeral at 3360 South Ocean Blvd. 5CS, Palm Beach, FL.Donations in memory of Iris can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, hpbc.com, 877-494-6890 or Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, 561-366-4100
