Joan Morell's Obituary
Joan Morell, born Joan Lemkin, was brought into this world on the 21st of June, 1941, to Sam and Molly Lemkin, in Soho (Lower Manhattan), New York, New York, joining her sisters Lee and Faye, making a family of five. Joan was the runt of the litter and she was loved by many people in her long and happy life. From her time in New York, she graduated from high school and soon after met the love of her life, George Morell (b. 1935) when they both went on separate vacations in the Catskill Mountains, New York. They then got married soon after on the 3rd of November, 1962. Indeed, their love was true love at first sight. After completing their family by bringing Michael and Stacey to this world, they decided to move and settle in the suburbs in The Raritan Valley development of Hazlet, New Jersey to get away from the city life. Following their retirement in 1994, they then moved to Kings Point in Delray Beach, Florida. Nine years later, she was widowed on the 19th of January, 2003; they were married for 40 years.
On Tuesday, the 3rd of February, 2026, Joan’s life came to a peaceful end at the age of 84 and she is now reunited with her predeceased husband, George Morell. Joan is survived by her son Michael and her daughter Stacey, and her only grandson, Zackary, her Boychik, whom she doted on and loved more than life itself.
Burial ceremony for Joan will be held at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens on Friday, the 6th of February at 12:15 in the afternoon, Eastern Standard Time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity for patients with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
