Lillian Rose's Obituary
After a brief illness Lillian Sorkin Rose died peacefully at the Hospice of Palm Beach County on January 28th, 2016 at 5 AM. She was born in Carbondale PA on March 6, 1921, and spent her childhood and most of her adult years in Syracuse New York, where she raised her daughters, worked as an executive assistant and was the president of her local chapter of Pioneer Women. Upon retirement, Lillian and her second husband of 40 years, Norman Rose, moved to Florida, where they threw themselves into numerous community and civic activities, and travelled extensively. Lillian lived independently in her home, pursued her passions for art, theater, politics, animals, reading, canasta with friends, crossword puzzles, and a fierce game of scrabble. She took up painting at the age of 88 and evolved into an accomplished watercolorist. Lillian was much loved and admired, and will remain an inspiration to her daughters, Terry and Nata Cargan, her stepsons, Robert and Barry Rose, extensive family and cherished friends.Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, Feb. 1 at the Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd, Boynton Beach, 561-732-3000.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lillian Rose’s name to Canine Assisted Therapy, 1040 NE 45th St. Oakland Park, FL 33334 or via catsdogs.org.
