Marc Robert Freedman's Obituary
Bob was born to Seymour and Rita Freedman in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 9, 1945. He died on December 3, 2025 in Delray Beach surrounded by those who loved him.
His family moved to Valley Stream, N.Y. when he was a young child
As a child he was active in the Boy Scouts. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow.
He attended school in Valley Stream, N.Y. and graduated from Valley Stream Central High School. He attended SUNY Oneonta and received a Bachelors and Master’s degree. Bob went on to teach high school social studies at Livingston Manor Central School for 35 years. Bob was active in the teacher’s union. He served as chief negotiator and was instrumental in the formation of the Sullivan County Teachers Council. Bob and Lynne were married for 57 wonderful years.
Lynne and Bob were involved in National Marriage Encounter for many years. They served as a presenting couple and represented the Mid Atlantic States on the National Board.
Bob believed in making the world a better place (Tikkun Olam). He was involved in the Livingston Manor Community. He was president of Congregation Agudas Achim where he served as president for more than 30 years. Bob was also a proud Rotarian. He served as club president as well as Assistant District Governor. Bob served as master of Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge.
After retiring Bob and Lynne spent most of the year at their home in Boynton Beach. Each summer they went to Livingston Manor spending time with friends and family. They became members of Temple Beth Shira. They enjoyed the relationships they forged with the members of the temple.
Bob is survived by his son Michael of West Palm Beach and his grandchildren Kyle (Ariella) of Roscoe, N.Y., Logan of Boynton Beach, Gauge and Serenity of West Palm Beach. His nephew William Staley, his sister in law and brother in law Ellen and Donald Tate of Bedford, MA, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his sister Brenda Staley.
Services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, F.L, on Tuesday December 9 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Eternal Light Cemetery. The service will be available on Zoom which can be viewed by clicking** HERE**.
