Maurice Sawdayee

Dear Auntie Bertha, Giddy and Meir,I am so sorry about Uncle Maurice's passing. He will be very missed. I remember as a kid going to see his exhibit at the Locust Valley Library. I felt so honored that I had an Uncle who was a famous artist. He had a lot of interests including writing, reading and painting. Dear Auntie Bertha, Giddy, and Meir, We were all so heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of our Uncle Maurice last week and wanted to let you know how much he meant to us all and how deeply he will be missed. Being the only Sawdayee brother in the US, I always marveled at his calm demeanor around his gregarious sisters when I was growing up. I also felt he was one of the real intellectuals of the group and was thrilled when he shared his PhD thesis work with our family to let us know important details of the history of the Jewish people in Baghdad. Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss. We hope you have fond memories of love and joy that will be shared with friends and family for many years to come. Dear Bertha, Giddy and Meir We were very saddened to hear about the passing of our brother Maurice, now I am sitting and remembering all the accomplishments he made during his life changing countries and adjusting to all of them, traveling and having a loving family who helped him when he needed them. Maurice used to love to read and watching many movies all the time, just think of all the good memories you had together . We love you all take care. Margo & Edward

Dear Aunt Berta, Giddy and Mayer,We were extremely saddened to hear that Uncle Maurice passed away late last week. I always admired his interest in sharing information about our heritage, as well as his love for education and art. I still can't figure out how he completed his Ph.D. while working full time. What a full life he had, experiencing so many changes yet always finding a way to connect with family. I know that it was not easy to always set time aside for the Sawdayee family to meet in Long Island while we were growing up, but this made a lasting impression on me, and Maurice was a major part of this effort.Thinking about you all and stay well, Love, Esther and Eric
