Nikolay Shatkovsky's Obituary
With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Nikolay Shatkovsky, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, who passed away on January 11, 2026 at the age of 76.
Born in Kiev, Ukraine under the Soviet regime, Nikolay grew up during a time of hardship that shaped his resilience and strength of character. Guided by courage, faith, and devotion to his family, Nikolay immigrated to the United States in search of freedom, opportunity, and a better future for his wife and daughter. He embraced his new life with gratitude and determination, while remaining deeply connected to his Jewish heritage and the values he carried with him throughout his life.
A proud Jew, Nikolay, lived by principles of integrity, responsibility, and compassion. He was a dedicated and loving husband to Vera, with whom he shared almost 55 years of partnership and unwavering support. He was the proud father of one daughter, Svetlana, whom he loved deeply and supported unconditionally. As a grandfather, he found his greatest joy in his two granddaughters- Rachel and Eva, surrounding them with warmth, wisdom, and boundless love.
Those who knew Nikolay will remember his quiet strength, gentle presence, and steadfast commitment to his family. He expressed his love through actions—through sacrifice, perseverance, and a life devoted to those he held dear.
He is survived by his beloved wife Vera, his daughter Svetlana, his grandchildren Rachel and Eva, his son-in- law Dmitry, extended family, as well as group of devoted friends who will cherish his memory always.
May his memory be a blessing — Zichrono livracha.
May his soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life — Tehi nishmato tzrurah b’tzror hachayim.
