Paul Goldner

Pinky was a very special individual. I knew him during the 8 years I worked at Dubois and then later when I arranged many of the travel trips for he and Seena. Whenever I worked with a hotel concerning food and beverage, the managers in various chains all knew Pinky and had high praise for him. He always told me to contact his good friends who were the top management at the hotels & resorts I utilized.He was one of a kind and if there is a Hall of Fame for Super Salesmen he would be a founding member.My condolence to Seena, Russ and all the family.Herb Reisenfeld

I believe Paul was hired the same day by DuBois as Ecolab hired Al Schuman (who Pinky battled with many times for a major account â?? both in NYC and especially later nationally in the chain account world). Both became salesmen in NYC. Both had been interviewed by John Mountâ??s father Howard (who was then the district manager in the greater NYC area for DuBois). Pinky made his bones in the rough and tumble New York market and specialized in selling the largest Manhattan hotels and prided himself as not really knowing (as he often put it) â??which end of the machine the dishes went inâ?. What he did know was people. For example he met a fellow at the 1960 Worldâ??s Fair who would later become the president of Greyhound Foods and a huge DuBois customer. He hob nobbed with the great hoteliers and chefs in the (US and in Europe) who predominated in the "haute cuisine" world of the Big Apple. He and his lovely wife Seena were regulars at all the glittering upper end Institutional happenings in the northeast and together were a force to be reckoned with.Pinkyâ??s forteâ?? was knowing people â?? the important ones. He knew which luxury hotel or resort needed a Director of Food and Beverage before the personnel department of that business was aware of it â?¦ and probably had three candidates lined up for the job with each thinking he was Pinkâ??s uber numero pick! An hour spent in Paulâ??s office was an education in chicanery, sophistication and down and dirty street fighting. But it was fun and informative. Pinky was a one of a kind DuBois master. On Dec 13, 2012 in Boca Raton, I interviewed Al Shuman, Chairman Emeritus of Ecolab for my book, The Commercial Soap Wars: The MBA (Ed Hutton) vs The Salesman (Al Schuman). The DuBois person he mentioned the most was Pinky Goldner. I interviewed Pinky that night, he talked about Al Schuman. I interviewed Ed Loder the next day at breakfast, and he talked about Pinky Goldner and Al Schuman. Three pretty good interviews. I bet, Pinky is working on getting "comped" for the big penthouse suite in the sky.

My Dad loved dearly Seena his Wife for 64 years, his Children Barry, Robin, and Russell, his Grandchildren Valerie, Amanda, Marc, and Tamara and his career with Dubois Chemicals that all provided him with many years of happiness thoroughly enjoying what life thru his way!!!
