Sidney Gold's Obituary
Sidney Jacob Gold, CPA, a longtime resident of Philadelphia, died peacefully in his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on August 7, at the age of 95. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Isabelle; his brother Arthur; daughter and son-in-law Dale and Stephen Hoffman of Greenwich, CT; his daughter Barbara Gold of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Emily Hoffman Stern (Brian), Anna Hoffman (Nicholas Confessore) and David Herman, and four great grandchildren.A graduate of Northeast High and Temple University, Sid served as first lieutenant in WWII and was sent to Okinawa, where he led a platoon in the capture of Shuri Castle, a Japanese stronghold on the island, and was present at the surrender of the Japanese in l945. After the war he founded Gold & Gold CPAs with his brother Arthur. The company was acquired by a Big Eight firm in l983, where Sid headed the Entrepreneurial Management Group.An avid fisherman and enthusiastic traveler, Sid cast his line everywhere from Alaska, South America and Canada to the local alligator pond. With Isabelle, he explored the world from Europe to Africa to the Far East.In retirement, Sid served on various committees in his new communities, played bridge and poker, wrote for the newsletter, and continued to charm all with his jokes and his warmth.Levitt- Weinstein Memorial Chapel Boca Raton is entrusted with arrangements www.levitt-weinstein.com
