Professor Jack J. Rose's Obituary
Professor Jack J. Rose, Sunrise, Florida, passed away on July 12, 2026 after a long illness. He leaves his family and was very proud of his two sons, David (Andrea) Rose and Peter (Natalya) Rose and five grandchildren, Bryce, Maxwell, David, Jonah, and Ariella. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and treasured his time with Susan, the love of his life. He also leaves three siblings, sisters Judy Rynar (Mike), and Marsha Brooks, and brother Art Rose (Phyllis). Marsha, Art, and Jack were triplets.
Originally from Irvington, NJ, Professor Rose moved to South Florida in 1975 after graduating from Rutgers University. He attended Florida Atlantic University for his Marketing Education Certification, and graduated from Nova Southeastern University with his Master's Degree in Education. He was a beloved professor at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, The College of Business at Johnson & Wales University, United International College, and taught several classes at Broward College, North and South Campuses.
A recipient of numerous leadership awards, Professor Rose was the Executive Director Emeritus for Florida Collegiate DECA and served over 35 years in that capacity. He was a National Trainer for DECA and served as Conference Coordinator at many Collegiate DECA International Conferences. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and believed in community involvement and volunteerism.
His involvement with DECA began at Verona High School where he served as President of his local DECA Chapter. He was instrumental in working with many state officers over the years in growing state membership to over 3,200 participants.
Professor Rose touched the lives of over 4,500 students during his teaching career. He once said, "They are my second family," and remained in touch with many of them over the years, even serving as best man in a couple of weddings. He celebrated many life-cycle events with his students, and always bragged about the many rewards he received as his students accomplished numerous promotions, successes, and achievements.
"No one goes into teaching expecting to become rich; yet, one becomes rich through the achievements of their students."
His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Bryce, Maxwell, David, Jonah, and Ariella. With Bryce, Max, and David in college, he was quick to advise them on college life and the importance of time management.
